Read Acts if you don't believe me. We could "have church" hanging off a cliff. Upside down. With our heads in the ocean. Seriously. [Sidenote: you could pray that God would remove my cynicism. Sorry. But on the bright side, isn't it awesome that you need literally no external stuff to meet with God?!??]

In an effort to enlighten myself about what the heck I should do to not be considered a time-waster and unsuccessful person, I googled "list of successful people". Options for who I can grow up to be like include: -Oprah Winfrey. -Walt Disney. -RH Macy. -Charles Darwin. -Vincent Van Gogh. -Bill Gates. -Thomas Edison. -Emily Dickinson. -The Beatles. -Babe Ruth. I guess to be successful I need a platform, a small (or massive) fortune, business and tech smarts, "creativity" (if that's what you call cutting off your ear) and a killer batting average (at least, I think that's what Babe Ruth was famous for... or pitching arm? I dunno). Not that all those things are bad, but... So I moved on to thinking of who would be considered successful in God's eyes. The number of Christians spewing Rachel Scott's father's speech after Columbine all over Facebook and via email is unbelieveable. Sure, it applies to the Newton shooting, but guess what??! Contrary to popular opinion, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE NEWTON SHOOTING. He made that speech after the Colombine shooting in 1999. I remember one time in high school everybody was passing around a chain email that said Mars was the closest to earth it would ever be, and to go look at the stars on a particular night to see it. Well, without checking our facts, we went with some friends to the observatory at the local university to view the sights. A top article on a news website this morning was what the wives of the Presidential candidates wore to the debate.  The first paragraph states the Michelle Obama "re-wore" her dress.  Seriously, people?  As long as they have on clothes, WHO CARES??  And if I spent as much money on a dress as I'm sure she must have, why would I not wear it again?!  This is really a news-worthy tidbit of information?! The fundamental problem with our political system is not the candidates, or the economy, or the issues.  The problem is us.  We vote, and then we complain...on Facebook.  Sure, out political system is broken, but it was designed to have our input on issues.  Don't complain on Facebook-- email or call your reps.  Pay attention to the laws and such passing through the lawmaking bodies.
